Packaging, Labeling, and the Environment - what we do and why we do it.

The environment and sustainability are important to us.

In our packaging and labeling, our goal is to be as ecologically friendly as possible while still being effective and informative. This is why we have chosen to move away from the "glitzy, glamour" of commercial packaging and take a more responsible approach.

You can request that our soaps be "naked", meaning that we use only the minimum paper to wrap individual bars and will use the minimum number of airtight bags needed for shipping (to contain scent).

To accommodate our scent/allergen sensitive customers, we use environmentally friendly airtight, resealable, and recyclable zipper pouches. Our pouches are made from 4.0 mil food safe PE mono material and the EVOH coating (RETAIN™) is approved by the Sustainable Packaging Coalition and specifically designed to extend shelf life and protect products from oxygen, gases, and other contaminants. They are classified as Recycle/Ready and don't pollute the recycle stream. Even though PE bags are less rigid than their PP counterparts, the recycling benefits of these pouches are the biggest benefit.

We avoid shrink wrap because even "biodegradable" shrink wrap is questionable.

If you have suggestions for how we can improve our packaging and labeling while minimizing the environmental impact, please let us know!
