Collection: Hot Process Soap

Hot Process Soap is similar to the more widely known "Cold Process Soap" except it is quicker to set up, cut, and be ready to use. This method provides more visually rustic bars and allows us to quickly provide an assortment of favorite soaps varieties while keeping high quality.

Some characteristics of Hot Process include:

  • Pro - It's generally considered to be a more “natural” bar of soap.
  • Pro - The bars have a natural, rustic appearance and a less smooth texture than cold process.
  • Pro - Can customize every ingredient, including oils and colors.
  • Pro - Often made in “loaf molds” so each bar/batch is unique.
  • Pro - The additional heat speeds up the saponification process. Soap can be cut within one day and takes 2 - 3 weeks to cure.
  • Con - HP tends to be less “visually creative” than the cold process method due to the thick texture of hot process soap during the creation process.

Saponification often removes the very qualities of oils and butters that people want in their soap, including essential oils and their attributes.  The Hot Process method of creating soap allows us to custom add oils, butters, and fragrances AFTER saponification so their characteristics are present in the soap.
